Hi everyone! I feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve posted… I’m going to blame my absence on a combination of adding a new family member (oh hey, Arlo Grey!), the start + wrap-up of a few really excited project and - well - 2020. Need I say more?
Speaking of exciting projects wrapping, I am so thrilled to finally share the #clientsubtlestatement with you all! I first starting chatting with this family nearly 2 years ago (wow, even as I type this, that’s crazy to me!)… They knew their current home wasn’t fitting their needs and very thoughtfully and weighed their options carefully before decided to renovate their existing home! I absolutely LOVE the location of the house so I’m so glad they decided to stay (did I mention it’s the closest project to my own home that I’ve ever worked on? 😉). Biases aside, the neighborhood + street really are lovely and with a few changes to their current layout, we were able to make their existing square footage work for them! When I say “we” I mean Lauren Plomske of LP Design - she helped us with all of our architectural drawings as always, she did an amazing job!
Since we didn’t add any additional area, smart storage and millwork solutions went a LONG way on this job. Not only did we upgrade the obvious, like a new + improved kitchen layout, but we added built-in storage + a bench at the entry and what I’m going to coin as the “built in pantry of dreams” complete with custom floor to ceiling white oak doors concealing the perfect combination of rollout drawers + fixed shelves. We also stole a little bit of square footage from the home office to add another bathroom. I’m so happy for the homeowners that they now have their own private ensuite!
These clients were serious troopers - not only did they live in their basement throughout the renovation process of the 2 upper floors - but they survived a reno THROUGH COVID! I’m pictured in my mask below, to prove it, ha! We were fortunate that the project wrapped and we were able to get in and photograph it just before new restrictions came into place. This time when I say “we” I mean Jamie Anholt and myself. I’ve never washed my hands so frequently or brought so much hand sanitizer to a shoot day!
Getting these photos back has been such a great way for me to finish up the work year - when I opened my inbox to see them, I truly felt like Christmas came early! I’m so happy with how everything came together on this one and incredibly glad this sweet family can enjoy their “new + improved” home for the holidays. Thanks for following along and all the support over the year… Given all the extra time we’ve been spending house-bound in 2020, I’m appreciating more and more what an honour it is to play a part in creating a sense of “home” for my clients. I’m very humbled but also hoping that 2021 looks a little different for us all 😉
Wishing you all the happiest, safest + healthiest of holidays! Looking forward to sharing more in the New Year!!
