Hi friends! For any of you that follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed a pink latte that I posted some time ago... Well, let me tell you that this little pink latte (also shown above) has gotten a lot of attention over the past few months. This cute little latte has been reposted dozens of times and garnered a lot of questions - so here you have it, everything you wanted to know about the pink latte (and more!), noted below :)
What is it?
It's a beetroot latte! Obviously it's the cutest thing ever (duh!), but guess what? It actually tastes amazing, too! It's a nourishing alternative to a flat-white, flavoured naturally with organic beetroot powder and a touch of honey that gives it just the right hint of sweetness. Not only does the beetroot create it's beautiful (and IG-worthy ;) colour, but health claims include liver boosting, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant qualities. Also note that there's no coffee in this latte! The beetroot latte is espresso and caffeine-free; perfect for those who don't like the taste of coffer or for coffee-lovers like me, who are trying to cut down on their caffeine-intake with satisfying alternatives.
If beetroot's not your thing, Wise & Wright also offers turmeric (yellow) and bluemajik (blue) lattes! The turmeric latte has been dubbed the "immunity latte" for its profound healing powers, often found in traditional East Indian cooking. Feel a cold coming on? Try a turmeric latte - it also comes iced during the summer! The bluemajik latte uses an organic blue algae, and supports healthy joints, healthy inflammation responses following physical activity. Bluemajik is consistently ranked very high on the superfood list.
If you're looking to try out these unique lattes, check out Wise & Wright's Coffee and Tea Happy Hour!! All lattes, (as well as cappuccinos, americanos and organic tea selections) are available for $2.25, Mon-Fri from 2:30-3:30! Um, can we say SCORE?!? Wise & Wright crafts their coffees with local Fratello beans in their world-class La Marzocco machine (Chad and I recently visited the La Marzocco Headquarters during our trip to Seattle, and trust me you guys, they are the real-coffee-DEAL!). Coffee and Tea Happy Hour is the perfect pick-me-up for that afternoon slump at a price your wallet will thank you for!
Where is it from?
Ok, so by now you already know that the answer is: Wise & Wright! This hotspot for healthy & delicious offerings opened in 2016 with a simple mantra: Quality > Quantity. Wise & Wright is a true, fast casual health food concept, perfect for sit-down customers or corporate on-the-go consumers who want true healthy food quickly. Owners (and local childhood friends!), Jai, Boris, and Pardeep, came together 2 years ago to develop a restaurant concept that would be quick but never compromising in quality. The food consists of the freshest ingredients, whole natural meats, and recipes that continuously push the bounds of health food, proving that nutrition can be chef-inspired and palatable.
As if the food and drink weren't enough, I absolutely LOVE the interior (designed by YYC fave, Frank Architecture). Like their food mantra, the design concept is straight-forward but well executed: finishes are black, white and various neutrals, allowing the people and the food to serve as the "colour" within the environment. Brilliant.
You can find Wise & Wright in the Core Shopping Centre, at 317 7 Ave SW.
Who took the photo?
As much as I wish I could take credit for simultaneously hand modelling and snapping this insta-famous photo, the credit goes to Michelle of MJay Photography! Funny enough, Michelle and I met approximately 10 years ago when we were both servers at a golf course. It was great to reconnect (first through Instagram, and then #IRL!), catch-up, and take some photos together! Thanks to Michelle not only for all these beautiful images, but for sharing many lattes with me and making the process SO MUCH FUN!! Follow along with Michelle on IG at @mjay.photography :)
